I owe anyone to reads this blog for the lack of updates on this, but I have been busy, most of my time has been consumed with writing the first novel in the War of Reaving trilogy. At the same time, Jason Hansa is writing the second book, while Phil Lee has (between editing Shrapnel Magazine issues) is working on the third book. This experience has been an interesting one I will talk about when all three books are published.
But the big news is this: I will be going to Gencon!
I have never been to this convention, never been to Indianapolis, haven't flown in an airplane in over 50 years, and haven't attended a major gaming convention in 30 years. So, I won't lie, I am nervous about this trip. I will be meeting people who I only know through Emails, video conferences and message boards, and as an introvert, it may be overwhelming.
But I already have my badge, bought an airline ticket, and in twelve days, I will be there. I've already seen the signing schedule for Catalyst authors, and I have two hour-long blocks on two different days, at different times. Once the schedule has been set, they will release it.
So, I've been splitting time between beating WoR #1 -- Poisoned Honor into a shape resembling a novel while working on a side projects related to Poisoned Honor that may or may not see the light of day, and preparing for this trip. Since I haven't packed for an overnight trip since 2017 (Fleeing Hurricane Irma -- that can be summed up as "Throw clothes into a bag and run!"), I've been making sure me and my clothes are ready. That means making sure I have everything for a near week in Indy.
I plan to blog about the experience and maybe post video -- I don't know yet. There is so much I don't know yet, and between that and writing, I'm a bit apprehensive. My mind is use to conjuring disaster at the slightest provocation, and the butterflies are starting.
But that's me. If you're coming to Gencon, look for me -- I'll be the one in the vest with the pins on it and wearing a Battletech-related baseball cap. I hope to see you there....
And If I get the chance, I will add another post about the In the Shadows of the Dragon characters in the next few days.
